  • I started buying frozen veggies (broccolli, cauliflower, carrots, peas, green beans, etc) and serving a veggie at each meal. It is so fast and simple to steam it and much better than the canned version.

  • I cannot eat it anymore, because I cannot do any dairy products, but we make chicken with cream of mushroom or cream of chicken soup and rice. You put the rice in the bottom of a oven-safe pan and mix in the soup and add the chicken on top. Put it in the oven at 350 degrees and cook for about 30 minutes or so, until the chicken is cooked. If you want, you can sprinkle a little cheese on top, but you don't have to. It tastes good either way. We make a lot of different pastas too. You can use hamburger or ground turkey in the pastas. We eat a lot of salad and sandwiches.

  • there are so many crockpot recipes out there that are so yummy and healthy. try searching for a group of crockpot mommies, i belong to one and they have so many good ideas. also, one of my favorite recipes is chicken with stuffing. preheat the oven to 350 degrees. place 4 chicken breasts raw, whole or cut up, in the bottom of a 9 x 13 glass casserole dish. pour 98% fat free cream of chicken soup mixed with a container (8oz.) of sour cream over the chicken. then moisten a box of stuffing and spoon on top of the soup mixture. cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes. soooo good.

  • also, this is a mix that i use when a recipe calls for cream of chicken soup. just heat over the stove top and it thickens just like the condensed can. makes about 9 "cans" of soup.

    2 c. nonfat dry milk powder
    3/4 c. cornstarch
    1/4 c. chicken bullion
    1 t. onion powder
    1/2 t. dried basil
    1/2 t. dried thyme
    1/4 t. pepper

    in a large bowl, combine all ingredients. store in an airtight container.

    For a condensed cream soup substitute:
    whisk 1/3 c. mixture and 1-1/4 c. water in a small saucepan until smooth. bring to a boil over medium heat. cok and stir until thickened. cool. use as a substitute for one 10-3/4 ounce can of condensed chicken, mushroom, or celery soup.

  • i recommend www.kraftfoods.com and www.sparkpeoplerecipes.com spark people is a website for people trying to lose weight, so the recipes are for the most part hearty, but good for you. you can find alot of recipes on both sites that wont break the bank. good luck.

  • One thing I like is something I call Mexican Mashed Potatoes. I bake potatoes in the oven, when they're done I mash them with butter like I would for mashed potatoes. Next I add in sour cream, salsa, cheese, and bacon bits. It's inexpensive to make, fast, and it tastes REALLY good! You could easily add some corn, or carrots or other vegetable as a side =)

  • Another idea is to double what you make every time you prepare a dinner, you can then split the meal in two and freeze one portion, then you'll have a super quick meal some other night!

  • hamburger helper. mac and cheese and 1 pound of hamburger meat. butter and cheese is all you need. salt and pepper to taste.
