  • I started potty training my girl at the age of 1 1/2. I simply cut out diapers. It was either pee on yourself and learn to go to the toilet or nothing at all.

  • I have always heard that you should start trying right around 2 yrs old. I am currently in the process w/ my daughter..every child is different and i have heard that boys are harder than girls.

  • There is no best age - it's like asking What's the best age to force my baby to learn to walk.

You have to figure out if your little guy is ready. Most potty training books have "readiness signs" listed in them. "The No-Cry Potty Training Solution" has a really good "readiness" test.

Boys usually learn a little bit later than girls - sometime after 2 1/2 is average. Of course "average" means that half the kids learned before that and half the kids learned later than that.

  • There's no magic age... wait until they're READY. They need to be able to pull their pants up and down, sit on a toilet without fidgeting, let you know if they have to pee/poo, etc. A lot of parents start potty training as soon as their LO can point at their crotch, and that's too soon. If you start too early, they'll resist & you'll be very stressed.

  • I potty trained both my boys starting when they were about 27-28 months and the best advice I ever got was to take their pants off and let them run around naked. It's best to do that in the summertime.

  • i think around 2 1/2 . i have worked in daycare where parents rushed them to fast and they would end up having to start all over so please let them do it when they are ready. i didn't have hardly any problems and i have a boy and a girl. i let them start when they came and told me they wanted to go potty.

  • No one likes to be rushed. They don't even know what the purpose of the toilet is for. Be patient. I trained my kiddos by occasionally sitting them on the toilet with and without the diaper. I also let them come to the bathroom with me and tell them what I am doing. After awhile they wanted to copy me and now they go by themselves. You can also get a potty-training tape at the library and watch it with him. When he goes tell him to push and he'll understand. This process takes time so be patient, and if he cries, comfort him and try later. Good luck mommy and God bless you and baby.

  • As soon as my boys understood what it meant to sit down and stand up I started potty training and and that was around 18months.
BOY ARE NOT HARDER TO TRAIN! Why do people keep saying that. Both my boys were potty trained by two years of age. Stay with it and stay on schedule. They had accidents here and there but nothing that couldn't been prevented.
