Should I go on a cruise while pregnant?

So before I found out I was pregnant, my family (parents, grandparents, brother, gf and husband) and I planned to go on a 5 day cruise for my brother's 21st birthday. Well, now I'm prego and I'll be about 5 months along when it's time to go. The original plan was to do a lot of drinking, but now I obviously can't and I'm afraid that I might get seasick (even though I've cruised before w/ no probs). Money is not an issue, b/c my parents are paying for a Christmas present. I can cancel w/ full refund until August. What would you do?

  • I'd go. Enjoy the fact that this might be your last vacation for a while without having the baby. Enjoy it, and maybe get those little wrist bands that help with seasickness if your worried about it. Hope you do go!!

  • Check with the cruise line, most wont let you go if you're past 20-25 weeks at the time of the cruise. You usually have to submit a pregnancy verifacation and if you dont( at least with the one I work for) you will not be aloud to board.

  • I agree that you need to find out the regulations on cruising while pregnant. They can and will refuse to let you board if you are a certain amount of weeks pregnant. If you can go, though, do it. There was just a story on the news here last week about a woman who was 30 weeks and they wouldn't let her on.

  • Check the regulations of course. I know my sis didn't get to go on our last family cruise because she was too far along. If you are cleared to go, definitely do it. There are so many amazing things to do on a cruise that don't involve drinking. Plus, I know for me, getting in a pool or such and letting my belly float is the most relaxing thing during pregnancy. If I could have gone on a cruise during this pregnancy, I would have.

  • I've been on 2 cruises (granted not pregnant) but I never got sick. As long as your doctor says it's safe to do so I think you should go. This is a family trip obviously and I think you'd regret not going and missing out on the family fun. Plus you might want to remember with a new born this might be the last trip for awhile. Have fun and be safe I say!
