3 Bumps

Which item do you wish you had brought to the hospital?

I'm making a list so that I can start getting prepared for when "it's time". Of course there are lists telling you to bring a camera and baby clothes, but I want to know what you ladies found that you REALLY wanted while pregnant but were never told to bring or forgot.

Let me know!

  • wow this was great now I dont have to even bother asking about my list great. I would add one thing my best friend who just had her baby like 2 weeks ago recommends which was a nice comfy pillow from home she was in labor for a whole 36 HOURS before she even was able to push . By the 3rd hospital day I was in-charge of scouting the hospital for a pillow there or to go to her house a house 1/2 hr away ahhh. good luck in a little less the 9 months I'll be in a similar boat.

  • whats funny is someone on here said to buy preemie sizes cuz newborn is still big but i was about to suggest bringing along a few 3 months sizes cuz newborn can be so small... i guess it depends on the clothes and the baby, cuz a lot of newborn sizes say they are only for 5-8 pounds and ur 8 pound baby could be too big. i plan on bring a few outfits of different sizes to see what fits the best for those going home pictures...

  • Chapstick!! I had a c-section but even during the surgery my lips were so dry... I can't imagine what it's like for someone huffing and puffing her way through labor.

  • I think toiletries, your brush, hairdryer...etc. I wanted my own clothes everytime...some undies you don't mind getting bloody. Just bring an outfit for the baby to go home in, a hat, coat/bunting (if it's cold)...the hospital will overload you with stuff when you go home with the baby.

  • The only things I would have liked to have remembered is my Mp3 player and crossword puzzles or something else to do. There was so much time when hubby wasn't there and I was alone and bored out of my mind from the stupid tv!

  • Bring an extra pillow, the hospital does have pillows but when I was there w/ my 2nd DD i think every other pregnant woman had there baby the same couple of days (12-21) every room was full so they couldnt get me an extra one so my DH went out at 2 am to get me some extra pillows....

  • I highly recommend a hairtie, it's the last thing you want in your face while delivering. and chapstick- my lips were so dry they cracked. i sent my bf to the gift shop for some inbetween contractions. also my friend gave me a great idea- I brought the baby book and had the nurse put her foot prints on that page while they did the official one,. i didn't have much time for distrations but i would suggest a few calming cd's --they usually have a cdplayer in your birthing room. definetly socks or slippers, and of course your camera. the rest everyone alread suggested.

  • You know, if you have a homebirth, you don't have to worry about bringing anything. It's already there!
