3 Bumps

Which item do you wish you had brought to the hospital?

I'm making a list so that I can start getting prepared for when "it's time". Of course there are lists telling you to bring a camera and baby clothes, but I want to know what you ladies found that you REALLY wanted while pregnant but were never told to bring or forgot.

Let me know!

  • I would suggest packing some snacks!!! I had cookies and crackers in my bag the second time around, because with my first son, the hospital wasn't great on handing out snacks whenever you got hungry. And as a breastfeeder, you get pretty hungry! lol

  • Extra pads. Half the time, they didn't give me enough and it would have been nice to just have some ready to go.

  • nursing pads, lansiloh. I didn't bring pads b/c I knew my milk wouldn't be in yet, but I needed them to protect my nipples against the bra fabric. Ouch

  • snacks - I packed everything in the world but not snacks. I was uber hungry all of the time. I also wish I brought my pillow from home - their pillows are not comfy at all.

  • My husband and I are having our fourth baby (due in just two months now, yay!) I packed my bag last night! Here is what I packed: camera, baby book, list of family/friends to call, chapstick, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, hair ties, brush, toothbrush, toothpaste, unscented deodorant, 6-pk of cheap/comfy panties, overnight menstrual pads, lansinoh, nursing pads, 3 nursing bras, nursing pillow, socks/slippers, going home outfit for me of nursing shirt and transition pants, going home outfit for baby of onesie and footed sleeper w/ hat. I find that I need no-more/no-less than what was just listed....

Forget vending machine change, big waste of money! Instead, pack a small bag of water, juice, granola bars, candy bars, chips, etc. DO take home whatever the hospital gives you for baby supplies, like diapers, wipes, alcohol swabs, hairbrush, etc. You'll need/use these, plus they are great to save for the baby's memory box!

  • camera,camcorder,chargers-batteries,nursing pads-even if you aren't planning to nurse-day 2-3 the boobs will spray like a fireman's hose.maternity clothes to wear home-something that fit around 5-6 months preggo, chap stick, lots of underwear-you will bleed through them , hospital pads suck, night gowns you don't mind throwing away.labor is NOT like on tv! it is messy and bloody.don't have visions of long white nightgowns and wind blowing through your hair as you meet the baby for the first time. you will be tired and sweaty and funky. that first shower after the little angel gets here is AWESOME! epidural will make your leg's shaky for a while-my hubby wore swimming trunks and got in the shower to help me(the nurses WILL walk in on you, they did just see a person come out of you , they don't care if you are naked(you wont either, after having what feels like the entire hospital staff look at your ass half the day!)

  • DO NOT get a preemie outfit. My son was estimated to be 7 lbs and guess what, he was 8 lbs 3oz and fit 0-3 size clothes. Get "newborn" because its better to buy something too big than too small.
