My dog has cancer and we can't afford treatment. What should we do?

She has cancer and it is too far along for treatment. Also we cannot afford it.
What do I do at the end with her? I know we can't bury her. She weighs 100 lbs. !!

  • I am so sorry you are going through this. You can bury her. As the above poster suggested. Also, you can call your vet and see how much they offer to have her cremated or to take her body. I hope she dies peacfully. God bless.

  • My mom donated our dog after he died to "animal science". He had a few things wrong with him and she figured it was better that people learned from the things that went wrong with him so they were able to diagnose and fix it better for other dogs in the future.

  • If the cancer is to far along to help her then have the vet prescribe some pain meds. Those will at least keep her a little more normal and in less pain for awhile. When she does go, you can get her cremated for a minimal cost. If you aren't keeping the ashes, but burying them, then you aren't charged for an urn or anything.
    Good luck!

  • It is 250$ for cremation. Also, she is on steroids to reduce inflammation during the process, as well as pain meds.

  • You can have your dog cremated. My MIL's dog is close to the end and that is what she is going to do. I'm so sorry about your dog. It's tough to lose a pet. They become just like your kids.
