Should I switch cat foods if my cat throws up a lot?

I'e looked into this, and it is normal, but my husband is not happy about it, and neither am I. What food would help, what have you done to help stop this at your home? He is 4, and really sweet. This is not hairballs, it seems to be eating to fast, and the food is not digested well.

  • I agree that you should talk to your vet. They can probably recommend a different food.

  • I wish I knew the answer! Ours does once in a while, the indoor food helps because even if you can't see the hairball that's what he's trying to get rid of, or at least I've been told.

  • One of our cats did this all the time. We had constand food out and he would literally eat, puke, eat, puke, eat, puke until it was gone. We called him our bulemic cat lol. We had to start putting out small portions for him several times a day so he didn't over eat.

  • My MIL grows her cat a little patch of wheat grass, and he loves it! And he is never sick...you know how when a dog had an upset tummy it will go eat some grass? Same thing. Wouldn't hurt to try!

  • Our cat did this too all the time... he was on a special digestive formula as her got older but it continued. I think the problem was that he would just scarf it down like he hadn't gotten food in weeks!

  • This will sound strange, but try putting a golf ball in the food bowl. My vet suggested it because it keeps them from eating too much at once. It worked great for my cat and my friend was able to take her cat off of expensive vet food after she tried it.

  • Try out some different types of food, my cat throws up when I give him certain types of food (which now that I know this, I don't buy it anymore). He also may be eating so fast that it is upsetting his belly, so try that suggestion with the golf ball and see if it helps.
