  • Is he the father? If so, then he should be supporting your child without you having to go after him for child support. If you're asking b/c he's not the father and you want to go after the father, then the answer is yes. Child support is based solely on income of the parents, and has nothing to do with who you live with, where you live, or anything like that.

  • More than likely they will tell you that you can be a student and still work, but you should be able to get some kind of support.

  • It depends on your state for one, it also depends on if he is the father of the child in question. You can always receive support for the father if you do not live together however at least here if you live together and he IS the father of your children then no you cannot. Even if its only as roomates.

  • we go to school in corpus which is 7 hours away from family. i love him but i cant afford to live down here and raise a baby. he does help but not enough. he has to live here but i dont i only do because honestly i cant afford to move back. since he doesnt have a job his parents still pay for everything he wants. (hes 21) i think if i was getting child support i could start getting myself out of debt and raise my baby. right now im putting myself in debt everyday. i'm living on student loans. he is not in debt at all and has money.

  • Yes, you should be able to, if your so is not the father. The way it is here, child support is ONLY calculated on the father's income. It doesn't matter what the mom's situation is.

  • File for child support. Even if he doesn't work now, you can still get it awarded. Then when he is through with college, you can go after what he hasn't paid. You can also get the amount adjusted upward. Think of it as guaranteeing money for the future.

  • If you want to have a future with this man and his family (parents) don’t ask for anything right now. You decided to have this child, you are one your own. Let him get his education and if he really loves you and the baby he will be with you in time.
