How do you make homemade laundry detergent?

I want to make homemade laundry detergant and I have done some research on it....has anyone tried this or does anyone do this?? Do you like it? Is it even worth the trouble, and does it clean your clothes just as well?

  • Baking soda and white vinegar work very well, I do a cup baking soda and 2 cups vinegar for a full load of laundry.

  • i make my own . i use 1/2 cup of borax 1/2 cup of washing soda and 1/3 bar of fels-naptha soap. ( you can find all of the above on the laundry isle or online. note: washing soda is not the sae as baking soda.) you will need a 5 gallon bucket to store the finished detergent in. grate the soap into a sauce pan. add 6 cups water and heat until most of the flakes are melted. remove from heat and add the borax and washing soda. stir until disolved. pour i gallon plus 6 cups of hot water into the 5 gallon bucket. then add your soap mixture. stir well and allow to sit for 24 hours. the dtergent will be sort of congealed. stir it up and do some laundry. it is normal for it to be a bit lumpy. also, it does not lather up. it cleans the laundry just as well as store bought detergent and it is really cheap! you can message me if you have any questions.
