Do you take prescription diet pills?

Has anyone taken prescription diet pills after having a baby? I gained 45 pounds from getting on birth control, and later had a baby. I'm wanting to lose this weight (who wouldn't), but have no idea what to ask my doctor about. Anyone know of anything?

  • since 45 lbs is not into the "morbidly obese" category that the prescription pills are recommended for, I'd advise against it. 45 lbs can easily be done with diet and exercise.

  • I agree with the other posters. A diet pill is not necessary at this point. It is unlikely that your doctor would prescribe them at this point.

A prescription diet pill is usually more harsh than you can buy over the counter and is only reserved for morbidly obese patients or some super morbidly obese patients.

Save yourself the risk of a stroke from any type of diet pill and go about losing weight the old fashioned way.

  • I hate the thought of even asking you all about suggestions, but I had to because I'm not happy about it. I just thought damn, 45 pounds is a lot! I've never gained weight like that before. I was 135 I'm 180 now. I used to be around 135lbs 2 years ago, so that seems drastic. I'm 5'7 and whether or not it's within range or not, I feel overweight.

  • I tried some perscription diet pills that I got from a friend I took 1/2 for 2 days and felt really crappy afterwards. They made me really thirsty my heart race and after a few hrs. I had a headach and was extremely tired so I do not like perscription pills I think the pills were called phentermin or something like that.

  • I said "morbidly obese"

if she were morbidly obese I'm sure she'd want to lose more than 45 lbs.
