At how many weeks should you begin counting your baby's kicks?

What week should you start, I'm almost 20 and movement isn't really regular yet

  • anywhere between 18-25 weeks, depending on you and your baby. Just start doing it when it does become consistent.

  • My doctor kept asking when I felt it and how many kicks i thought there were in an hour. So pretty much whenever you feel them but you don't have to count them. I never really did because my baby was constantly kicking. I'm glad she's out now lol.

  • robinalbright- you count kicks to make sure baby is active and moving. a motionless baby for too long can indicate that it has died.

  • My doctor always told me after 24-26 weeks. That's when you should be able to feel the baby moving fairly regularly....

  • My midwife told me to just start doing them during the babies busy time as soon as you start to feel regular movement every day. Since this time is different for all women, I can't give ya a number for the week to start counting, but as soon as you know your babies "busy time" it's probably time to start counting. I started counting at my 25th week.
