  • \With my first trimester i had some swelling - it got progressively worse as the months went on.

a GREAT book to answer all your questions is What to Expect When You're Expecting. they have some great follow up books like What to Expect the First Year - each book gave me a play by play of what to expect in each month of pregnancy OR the first years of my child's development. you can get them on half.com used for a couple of bucks a piece + shipping. they are totally worth the $5 investment. i've purchased them for many of my pregnant friends. my obstetrician gave me my first copy of what to expect when you are expecting. he swore by it.
good luck with the swelling! lay down and elevate your feet with pillows or the arm of the couch for a while. the swelling wont go down anytime soon, but maybe you'll get a nap. you'll need it. your next one wont be for 18 + years or so. :) congrats!

  • normally, they dont, not really bad to the point that you will notice it, of course unless you are looking for it. unless you have G/D or preeclampsia. then you would need to your dr. mine became REALLY swollen after i was home from the hospital... my mom kept telling me they looked like cabbage patch kid feet!!

  • Girl, you are gonna hate me, but mine never did. My hands did, and my face got chunky around the 7ths or 8th month, but never my feet.

  • My feet only swelled when I was on them for too long or ate anything with too much salt. Avoid the salty foods.

  • My feet and ankles started to swell about 8 months.....all the way until after I had the baby. It took days afterward for it to finally go back to normal. I used to have to come home from work and lay down with my feet up for a few hours - even then the swelling would only go down so much.

But not everybody experiences that. And mine was probably worse than most women.....

  • Depends on how well you take care of yourself! drink plenty of water, eat 60-80 grams of protein a day and take a GOOD prenatal vitamin, not the ones from the doc or the drugstore!
