  • Has she taken him to the dr about it? They make gas drops to give babies with colic.
My advice to her would be to have a LOT of patience.

  • She said she did take him to the dr's but they didnt do anything, said there is nothing they can do for that really. She does give him some type of drops which she says help. I know I told her the same thing, have lots of patience w/ him!!

  • Ok my daughter had colic and i gave her gas drops..They worked a little bit but to comfort her I always took my shirt off i was in a bra of course and left her in her diaper and put her across my belly and stood up dancing slow with her..It really comforted her and she stopped crying and went to sleep..It may sound wierd but it really does work..Tell her good luck

  • Buy the Happiest Baby on the Block by Harvey Karp, it was a lifesaver when my son was miserable with colic.

  • after feeding.. let baby stay in the upright position after burping.. make sure all the gas goes up and out, instead of sitting in the belly... it usually goes away after the third month, my son had a small touch of it.. but he also slept in his car seat until he was 4 weeks old, then after that, in his crib on his tummy... he has slept thru the night since then.. collic is no fun.. but there are so many little things that will help, just gotta find the one for that particular baby... for us, it was keeping him upright or at a 30 degree angle.. best of luck to your friend

  • Here's a good website http://www.coliccalm.com/baby_infant_newborn_articles/gas_problems_treatment.htm and Gripewater works better than baby gas drops....works longer!

  • Wet a wash cloth with warm water, put it in a plastic bag and apply to baby's tummy. Then swaddle baby if he will let you. Apply pressure to his tummy that helps a lot. My younger dd had colic and my SIL tried this stuff on her and it worked like a charm. White noise like the dryer running, or static on the radio seem to calm colicky babies down too.

  • skin to skin contact is the best thing i can recommend. but more importantly, offer to help her. it's really stressful to deal with colic, and it can drive even the best mother insane.

  • Is she breastfeeding for formula feeding? If she's using formula, has she tried different kinds? With my firstborn, we ended up putting him on Similac Alimentum. Costs a lot but was definitely worth it for us as he was a different baby overnight!
