What is a good dessert recipe for Thanksgiving?

My mother in law is such a good cook and she can bake the best of everything. I have no clue when it comes to baking or cooking for that matter. ( well, I do, but I could NEVER be as good as the MIL ) I'm not good with anything complicated. So send me your out of this world dessert recipe, so I can knock there socks off at Thanksgiving this yr..

  • This is really weird, but my family goes absolutely nuts over the most simple peanut butter cookie recipe I've ever used! They ask me to bring them all the time. 1 c. creamy peanut butter, 1 egg, 1 c. sugar. Mix it together and then make small balls from the batter. Roll the balls in a bowl full of sugar and then use a fork to make the cris-crosses. Don't grease your sheet. Bake for 10 mins at 350...no longer and then let cool. They're great and easy. I'm not sure if they have the visual appeal you're looking for to "wow" everyone, but the taste will!

    Pecan Pie with Chocolate-Cinnamon Whipped Cream
    Ingredients
    2 cups whipping cream
    1 shot orange liqueur (recommended: Grand Marnier) (buy a tiny bottle, a nip, if you like)
    1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon, eyeball it in your palm
    2 pinches chili powder or ground cayenne
    1 (3-ounce) baking bar semisweet chocolate, chopped (recommended: Ghiradelli brand)
    2 store bought pecan pies, serve warm or chilled, as you like
    Directions
    Whip cream, liqueur, cinnamon and chili powder together until stiff peaks form. Melt chocolate in a medium bowl in microwave until smooth, check on it every 10 seconds over 45 seconds, cooking on high. Cool to the touch. Stir 1/4 of the whipped cream into the chocolate until totally combined then fold in the rest of the whipped cream in small batches. Cut pie, top with cream and serve immediately.

    Pumpkin Cheesecake
    3/4 cup graham cracker crumbs
    1/2 cup ground pecans
    2 tablespoons white sugar
    2 tablespoons brown sugar
    1/4 cup butter
    3/4 cup white sugar
    3/4 cup canned pumpkin
    3 egg yolks
    1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
    1/2 teaspoon ground mace
    1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    3 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
    3/8 cup white sugar
    1 egg
    1 egg yolk
    2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
    1 tablespoon cornstarch
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/2 teaspoon lemon extract

    DIRECTIONS
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
    Combine the graham cracker crumbs, ground pecans, 2 tablespoons white sugar, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, and the melted butter or margarine and mix well. Firmly press mixture into one 9 inch springform pan.
    Combine 3/4 cup of the white sugar, the pumpkin, 3 egg yolks, ground cinnamon, ground mace, ground ginger and salt in a medium bowl. Mix well, and set aside.
    Beat cream cheese with an electric mixer until light and fluffy; gradually add 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons white sugar and mix well. Add the whole egg, remaining egg yolk and the whipping cream, beating well. Add cornstarch and vanilla and lemon flavorings, beat batter until smooth.

    Add pumpkin mixture and mix well. Pour batter into the prepared pan.
    Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 50 to 55 minutes. Do not overbake. Center may be soft but it will firm up when chilled. Let cheesecake cool on a wire rack, then refrigerate.

  • I love cheesecake and this one should be easy for you since you're not a cook..... no cooking required. You do need a mixer tho..lol (Let it sit in fridge for two days)
    You will need..... 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, Vanilla flavoring (couple of teaspoons)1/4 cup of lemon juice, (2) 8oz pck of cream cheese (you can do the flavored if you want) and a graham cracker crust. Mix all of that up together and pour it in the crust, put it in the fridge. I also like to play around with the flavors so I will throw in some banana, orange, coconut and various other flavors in the mix just to have something different ... what the batter tastes like is what the pie is going to taste like.... absolutely no cooking, relatively inexpensive and easy... A lot of people put some sort of fruit on top (pie filling or those ones that come in the container in the frozen department).

  • Chocolate Eclair Dessert

    Cream puff dough:
    1/2 C. butter
    1 C.sifted all purpose flour
    1/4 tsp salt
    4 eggs

    Melt butter in 1 C. boiling water. Add flour and salt all at once. Stir. Cook and stir until mixture forms a ball. Remove from heat, cool slightly. Add eggs one at a time, beat until smooth. (It's gonna look like you screwed it up, but just keep stirring!) Spread the crust in a greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 450 for 15 minutes, than at 325 for 25 minutes. Remove from oven. It will be very bubbly looking. Let it cool.

  • Continued eclair dessert........

    Filling:

    1- lg. vanilla pudding
    1-8 oz cream cheese (softened)
    1-8 oz cool whip

    Make the pudding; add gradually to the softened cream cheese. Mix well. Spread over the cream puff crust. Cover pudding mixture with cool whip.

    Drizzle Hot Fudge over the top of the dessert. (As much or as little as you want)

    Sometimes I make this with Chocolate pudding and drizzle with Carmel topping. I also sometimes make these in muffin cups so they are individual servings.

    I'm not allowed over at some of our friend's houses unless I have this in my hands when I get to the door! People LOVE it!

  • I make Paula Deens Pumpkin Gingerbread trifle.. you can buy a trifle dish at walmart for like 8-12 bucks, so worth it.. it's so easy. Message me if you're interested in recipe.
