What are the restrictions of strict bed rest?

I have had to go to the hospital 2 times for bleeding in the past 2 weeks. This is my 4th pregnancy, I thought I was a pro....

The first time I left with the explanation of unexplained bleeding go home to bedrest. This time my doctor said strict bed rest your placenta could be slightly tearing from the wall. I have 3 children with a pretty absent husband. Bedrest is hard, could this be serious? Does bedrest mean don't get up at all?

  • Strict bed rest would mean not getting up except to use the bathroom, unless he gave your further instructions. I'm sorry :(

  • from what i know strict bedrest means you only get up to go to the bathroom. if the placenta does tear away it could be very very bad. the placenta feeds the baby. if it does tear all the way you could loose the baby or hemmorage. you dont want the placenta to break loose. try to find someone to help you watch the other 3 kids. maybe if you have neighbors or something like that they can help you our temporarily. you want to stay at home. i have seen doctors admit women because they cant follow the bed rest orders at home. i know you want to be home with your other kids so try to find someone to help you out a little

  • It's VERY serious, sorry! You need to be horizontal as much as possible, ONLY getting up to go to the bathroom. Someone should be bringing you food, water, and things to do. The next step for you would be in-hospital bed rest, and you won't even be allowed up to use the bathroom there!

  • ur dr should have told u exactly how much ur allowed to get up, if its only to go to the bathroom, or to shower every couple of days. this is serious its a matter of losing ur baby or not. put ur older kids to work fetching u things and helping out as much as they can. ur husband should be stepping up too
