  • my panic attacks come from out of the blue. my life can be fine and dandy and all of a sudden i'm in the hospital. i do have a problem with holding my feelings in and worrying way too much over things i can't directly control. as far as medications,i've found that i have a REALLY high tolerance for anything-meds or alcohol. i don't know why but my dr. just thinks i'm trying to get a buzz i guess. that's so not the case. i just want something to work for me. i shake so bad on a daily basis that i can't even carry a cup of coffee. idk what to do.

  • I have anxiety, but I rarely have panic attacks. Only if I let myself get worked up enough. I kind of wish I could get some meds for it : / I guess the only way you can get your doctor to up the dosage is keep telling him how you're feeling, and that your current dosage isn't working. Doctors know the difference between druggies (like my stepdad, oh lawd) and people who actually need help or a higher dosage.

  • I hope you're in therapy too...because as you've seen first hand your body will either adjust to the dosage or you may suffer from its side effects. I never medicated-I'm NOT saying medication doesn't help, but I also am a strong believer in self mind healing. There's a great book called Hope and Healing for your Nerves by Dr Claire Weeks, you can get it on amazon for like$10, and it helped me tremendously!! It was like she was writing the story of my life on how debilitating and life controlling those panic an anxiety attacks were. I hope you find something that works, but I did want to really recommend that book to you.

  • Your doctor is trying to prevent you from building up an even stronger immunity and addiction to valium. It sucks, but there is a reason. However, that doesn't mean you should go untreated. You could try different sedatives, or an antidepressant. Sedatives are really best suited for short term relief, since they are addictive and become less effective over time. I've taken a variety of meds over the years, but what ended up working for me was cognitive behavioral therapy. In addition to regular therapy, I did a self-help CBT program. I've been off meds and panic-attack free for over five years now as a result. I still feel anxious from time to time, but it's normal healthy anxiety, and it never gets out of control anymore.

  • I take klonipin. I don't take it everyday. Sometimes I can feel the edgyness coming on and sometimes when I have a fit ( thats what I call 'em) I take one. I don't knwo if you've ever taken xanax but it's like that w/o being trashed. I mean it makes that panic/stress/ anxitety go away without you carshing or blacking out.
