What is a good portable heater that is safe for kids?

I want to go buy a heater today but I need one that will be safe around kids. Do you know any you would recommend (SP?)

  • have you seen the commercials for the Amish made Miracle heaters? those look really safe.

  • Oh how ironic. We just bouht one because the office is os cold in my house. It is called enegy smart and I bought it at Wal-Mart for $40. It has this ability to bring up the room to the tempature that you set and doesn't get hot to the touch. So my son can touch it (although we don't let him and caution him not to) and not get burned.

  • I use a "ceramic" heater, it doesn't get really hot and heats really well. We got ours at Lowe's a couple of years ago. it wasn't very expensive, I think we paid $50 for two heaters.
