  • It's illegal. Period. It will also have a negative effect on his/her schoolwork unless (s)he is an excellent student with amazing self control.

  • tell them that it kills brain cells, that it makes you do stupid things, and that it slows down the reaction speed

  • No offense Trinity, but the truth is always better. It does NOT kill brain cells or make you do stupid things. It might make you act like an idiot, but you don't lose the ability to stop yourself from making mistakes like you will with alcohol. The first step to making your teen not trust you is passing on myths. They will think "If that's not really true, then maybe none of it is true."

  • SamanthaAgain definitely said it right:) Figure out the facts from fiction and just tell him the facts. It is never good to lie about a serious matter, because you will lose all trust. Marajuana is a gateway drug so make sure you are honest and open with him and be sincere!

  • Yeah you are 100% right.
I think , dont take offence to this, the only thing you CAN do is talk to them about how you feel about it and tell them that you dont like the idea of it. They are pretty much going to do what they want and its not like MOST parents say Yea! Go ahead smoke a few joints!, No, most parents say dont do itbut still alot of kids DO IT! I have not had to face this yet with my kids but I know I will some day concidering my husband named our son Blaze. lol ( middle name )

  • Let him get on the computer and find out what it does. Anything that affects you brain in such a way that you may really do something that you would regret for the rest of your life is something to stay the heck away from. I doubt if jail is a place he would like to hang his hat.

  • Try using this http://www.talkingwithkids.org/drugs.html

When some folks try pot some get interested in other drugs and it only leads to a path of destruction.

  • Talk to them about habits now are future habits. I explained to mine, the problem with using drugs or drinking now in their lives is that they do not learn to de stress / have fun / or just plain cope. People use chemicals as a release, but first they need to learn how to release in healthly ways. Otherwise they will become adults that do not know how to do that. It seems to have worked with mine, but I am againest the scare factor, teens see right thru that crap. Be honest in what you say, they can tell.
