Should teens be allowed to have sex?

My 18 year old lives at home. She goes to parties all the time and then tells me all about her sex that she had the night before. Could you tell me what makes her to want to have sex. Should I allow it if it is safe. In my house?

  • She has sex in your house? No way! I would have made that clear the first time it happened. I don't want to know anything about my oung adults sex life and i certainly don't want it done in my house. Gross.

  • ...but definitely not in your house...all you can do is talk to her about it...if she insists then just make sure she is being safe...you know...BC, condoms, etc....

  • It's the "cool" thing to do. And when we're young, we don't think about the possible consequences of our actions.

  • its your house your rules. thats the way i see it.
But they are going to have sex like it or not.
All i can say condoms and birthcontrol. Teach her about stds. she might know about it but she needs to learn. Pull up colored copyes of std pics.
Also at least she is 18 and not in 2nd grade

  • Hormones and a desire to be more grown up. Absolutely do not allow it in your house but do talk to her about pregnancy and STD's , be open but set boundaries and let her know you are not happy with her choices but you stilllove her.

  • just give her a pack of condoms. She is 18. not sure what exactly your problem is... you should be happy that she wants to have sex at home and not in some nasty old party room amongst others

  • Curiosity, boredom and social expectations. It's why I was doing it when I was a teenager. You could say hormones but I don't ever recall actually having a hormonal desire for sex. It was just something fun to do and kill time. I'm mortified now thinking back on it but it's the truth.

  • I'd bet it's already happened in your house. You don't have to allow it. I know I certainly won't but I won't be forbidding it with the expectation that it'll never happen. I'll do it simply on the principle of "It gives me the heebie geebies to think of my child having sex and I don't ever want to run the risk of walking in on it." If she isn't being emotionally smart about the whole thing just make sure you talk to her and she is being physically smart about what she's doing.
