What are some good websites for finding knitting patterns?

I saw that you can make homemade placemats for your kitchen table by knitting and crocheting...now I am psyched and want to try my hand at it. Only problem is I don't have a good crochet placement design to try my hand at. Thanks in advance *S*

  • The best way I have found to buy patterns is to be able to see the package at the store. Walmart where we live has patterns in the arts and crafts sections of the store, and any craft store has them as well. I always want to make sure and see what I am getting before I buy it and take it home. I want something that is suitable for my ability level.

  • I get most of my crochet patterns from here: Crochet Pattern Central

Their directory links to free patterns all over the internet.  They also have a sister site that is for knitting, just follow the links from the homepage.
