What's the worst thing someone has said to you about your baby's name?

Has anyone had a really bad experience when asked about your names? My husband and I are going to keep our names to ourselves to avoid this. His grandmother actually told his sister that the name of her first daughter was terrible and she didn't know why she would ever chose a name like that!

  • How can you keep the baby's name to yourselves with family?

  • My daughter is Lily... we told whoever asked that it would be Lily for a girl and Finn for a boy. A friend's sister that, "That's a really common name". IDK, it just bothered me!
So I'm thinking of keeping them to myself with people we don't know well.
But my husband's sisters and I told each other all our names so we wouldn't "steal" any of each other's ideas! :)

  • LOL! My MIL called my youngest son, Justin, "Jason" many times in the first weeks after his birth. She thought Justin was a really "different" name!! That still cracks me up, but she's in her mid-80s and Justin is a "new-fangled" name to her. Oh, man, now I'm laughing again. I love my MIL... she's so cute!
