Have you had gastric bypass surgery?

I don't have it but I know 2 women who had it. Both of them are sisters and after one got it done the other wanted it. Both of them said they don't regret it at all and love it. They lost a lot of weight from it. I think the only complaint is you can't eat much at all or it could cause severe problems. If I were heavy enough to get it I definintly would since I know 2 people personally who gave great feed back on the surgery.

My friend's father died due to complications of a gastric bypass in July of 2003. He was very ill and constantly in & out of the hospital from the time he had the surgery 'til the day he passed on.

If you can follow the eating style you must adopt AFTER surgery--you should try it before surgery. I have a friend who works in an office building full of women. We know a common friend who also works there---this other friend had it as did several other women in the office building. My friend told me only our mutual friend has followed the instructions to a tee--and is the only one doing well with the surgery. The others have been sick. lost hair, suffer depression, have had it "fail" due to eating too much........ I would try healthy eating and exercise and Overeaters Anonymous first......

I also know a man who had the lap band. He is happy with it but can't eat steak nor eat very fast. We went out with a large group after a ranch rodeo. He ordered deep fried cheese sticks. He was the last one to finish eating. We talked for 20+ minutes about his operation after dinner when he explained to me why it took him so long. My only thought was--look at what he ordered!!!! Again, it comes down to eating healthy 90% of the time so you relax 10%. It is all about healthful eating, exercise, and caring enough to treat yourself well.

My Mom had this surgery October 28, 2007 and by October 28, 2008 she went from a size 24 to a size 8. She has no regrets...But my MIL had it in 1991 and had severe complications. They left her intestines too low, and it almost killed her....

But I do know a lady who had it done not long after my mom and she was probably 500 lbs. She had some complications, and the doc really didnt recommend it because she was so big. But she did it anyway and now today shes doing great and is down 150 lbs.

I am under 5 feeet tall and weigh 350 pds. My insurance states," Obesity does not exist. Gastro bypass surgery is cosmetic and is not covered by our insurance."

I also would have it done but I cannot put my family in debt to have it done.

I would get the lap band .it does the same thing with out having to cut your stomach.
