How long will sex be painful after giving birth?

When should i see the doc about it? anysuggestions on how to get it to feel better. we tried lube and forplay and still does its been 6 months.

  • I HAD SEX 6 DAYS AFTER HAVING MY SON AND IT HURT LIKE HELL, 3 WEEKS AFTER THAT I HAD SEX AGAIN AND IT DIDNT HURT BUT EVERYONE IS DIFFRENT

  • Are you taking any contraceptives?  I found that the progesterone only pill caused painful sex after I gave birth.  As soon as I stopped taking the pill the pain disappeared.

  • 2 weeks after first baby was born we had sex with no pain. I had a home birth though, so no cuts.

  • It should not be hurting this long after birth. See a doctor. Number of things could have happened including being stiched up too much if you were stiched or in my case having muscle spasms (my body that it was in labor every time I was touched down there), and other not so serious things). Bottom line, if it still hurts ask your OB or family doc to check you out.
