  • My son is 17 months and he can say about 60 words. Only about 20-25 are said perfectly clear though. He is still not combining words though so I am working on that. When did your children combine words?

  • I think 12-15 months is the time parents start to worry about this a lot. My daughter was 13 months when I started wondering. She had six words then - which was 'many' for her age - according to the doctor. So I didn't worry so much. By eighteen months she had about fifty words. Now at 21 months I'm not counting because she is putting three words together and coming up with combinations I'm not expecting. She communicates pretty well and I'm just waiting for the more 'conversational' stage to come now. Right now she is more of a 'demand' and/or 'identify' stage.

  • When my daughter was 16 months old she only had a few words...mama, daddy, buddy(our cat) baby(her brother was born at that age) but at about 18 months she had a language explosion! She's 25 months now and talks so fast that I cannot understand her...she talks in small sentences now.

  • MY son is 3 an 9 months an he is having trouble saying sentences clearly he does receive speech therapy twice a week. they therapist says he is very smart an knows a lot its just trying to drag it out of him.(kinda him being lazy). he is doing a lotbetter she recommends to get flash cards, when kids point at an object tell them what it is an have them repeat it over an over. that's what i do at home an seems to be working just stick to it don't give up. don't give discouraged am good luck..

  • My daughter is also 16 months. She says Ma, Da, ba (for ball), and versions of "all done" and "stuck". I don't know if this is normal for her age, but I figure all kids are different, and she'll talk more when she's ready. She expresses herself through pointing and head gestures, so I think we're okay. I do talk to her all the time about what I'm doing, what she's doing, what she's playing with, etc. She finally likes to sit through an entire board book (like, 5 pages) and we do that before she goes to sleep.
