  • Pre-term labor is when you are going into labor before it is safe for the baby.

When I went in, I had been having period-like cramps for about 2 hours, but they were not definite enough to time them. It was just like....a constant. But not super painful, just really uncomfortable and irritating.

I work at a hospital, so when my co workers found out what was happening they made me go to the OB department, and they hooked me up to a monitor, and watched my contractions which were now stronger than they had been, they checked me and said I was dilated to a 2, and that I was in labor. I was 33 weeks pregnant, and my doc put me on meds to keep the contractions away.

If you think you are going into labor, you need to call your doctor. It is not something to mess around with...

  • it sounds like braxton hicks. these are like practice contractions and its common during your stage in pregnancy. If you are having cramping though I would check it out. Other signs to look for are loose bowels, your mucus pug (a bloody/pinkish discharge), nausea, and obviously your water breaking (like you peed your pants). Also check to see how regular the contractions are. if ther are spiratic than there is no need to be concerned, but if they seerm consistant get it checked out.

  • i've been having small contractions since i was about 17 weeks pregnant.. my cervix (last time it was checked) was at a 3. I was having problems earlier in my pregnancy so they checked every week and it kept getting smaller, then finally stopped.
