How does the Twilight movie compare to the book?

I just started reading the book and have not seen the movie yet. My question is does the movie compare to the book? I find the book to be extremely descriptive and well-written. I read almost 150 pages last night and was up til 3 AM reading (I'm right in the middle of the book now) because I couldn't put the book down lol! I'm excited for the movie but I've heard it doesn't compare!

  • the book is totally freaking awesome...the movie was good..but if I had the choice I would have seen the movie before I read the book..the movie scratches the surface of the book..but the book is waaaay for the movie..ehh what can I say..when was the last time you saw a good book-to-movie adaptation? lol

  • The book is amazing, I read it all in one day so I know how you feel. And yes I've seen the movie, I thought the movie was really good, obviously not quite as great as the book, but still stuck to the book more than most films I've seen. So it's worth seeing it. In my view.

  • I loved the books and just recently went to see the movie. I thought the movie sucked. It was stupid. The actors were not good. The actor who played Edward looked like he was trying to pose the whole time. The only good thing about it was the laugh I got with my girlfriends afterwards about how ridiculous it was.

  • I thought the books were very well written and generally presented a good story. I thought the movie was a travesty. If I had seen the movie first, I wouldn't have read the books. The acting was terrible and the characters themselves seemed as though they were written completely different in the screenplay from the book. I don't really want to be very specific, since you are still working on the books and I don't want to ruin anything for you, but I will say that I was very disappointed in the way Bella was presented as a character in the film. I thought she was shown as being weak willed because a lot of the wry humor that she is written with in the books is not presented in her film character.

  • Unfortunately, I've only just recently read the book. I don't go to theaters to see movies much and will wait until it's out either on DVD or PPV. I've always been one that if there's a book, I'll read it first before seeing the movie. I can honestly say that I thoroughly enjoyed the book and am hoping to get my hands on the others in the series to continue reading. OP - you'll love the book for sure!

  • I loved the books! I read them all (including the few chapters online) in less than a week! And I saw the movie.
I thought the movie was good. I went in just hoping that it followed the book. and it did. i didn't have any expectations other than that, so i wasn't dissapointed at all. I think the movie was pretty good, and I will DEF. buy it when it comes out, and i'll have my tickets on preorder for the next movies too! i think its totally worth it all :-D

  • I own the book and have read it a few times. I have also seen the movie twice. I thought that it was really good, but of course there is no way that it could've completely captured Edward and Bella's relationship. It just barely scratched the surface of the love that they shared. Most movies that are made from books are like that too. I just hope that New Moon will be good, as they now have a new director and someone new is playing the character of Jacob. We shall see.
