How should a teen mom tell her parents she is pregnant?

I'm not a teen mother i just wanted to hear how you told your parents you were pregnant and how you reacted. Me & the hubby were dicussing what we would do if we had a girl and if this ever happened, im 3 months in havent found out the sex yet but we were just wondering about your experiences with having to tell your parents . Thanks :)

  • Well actually my sister told my parents after i told her not to. But my parents called me and told me to come home after work because they needed to talk to me, i was scared to death they where going to kick me out or something else, but everything was good. My mom got pregnant at 14 but lost the baby, and had me at 16 and my sister at 17. So she was very understanding and supportive. She cryed a little and was upset that i was only 17 and she refused that i would have an abortion (never was an option for me in the first place), but she said if i decided to do adoption she would adopt it because she couldnt stand the idea of her grandchild with someone else, but i wanted the baby as soon as i found out.

  • Well I am now 21 and have a beautiful daughter whose 3! I found out that my husband and I were pregnant at the end of my senior year in highschool. I had a very difficult time telling my parents, since they were divorced. My mom was VERY understanding and helped out with everything I needed! I just told her that I was 3 weeks late on my period, and I took a test and it was positive. I wasn't really under the best cirumstances to tell my mom because she was really crabby that day! But my aunt told me if I didnt tell her right away she was going to tell her! But my mom came around to it.. cried with me and then we set up my appointments! As for my dad, thats a whole other story! He wasn't happy about it at all.. His exact words were you just F***** up your whole life. But now, both of my parents couldn't be more proud of their little girl for maturing into a wonderful mother!

im staying in school, taking my 6 weeks off from school when i have the baby and then going back to school,so far ive made it walking around school with my head held high not caring about negative comments going on behind my back, i love my baby too much and would never ever regret anything. ( i had forgot to mention that before i told anyone i was pregnant only my bf and bestfriend knew,it was so hard at first knowing that yea i considered abortion,i had the money and everything i think that is one of the first thing that goes through a teenagers mind.but i decided to take responsibilities for my own actions and changed my mind.)

&& about the love life during the pregnancy, well me and my bf have our ups and downs,in the beginning of the pregnancy everything with him was perfect he seemes so happy and very supportive...right in the middle of the pregnancy is when it all got messed up. we would argue too much at points where one of us would consider cheating (not me) or breaking up,him sneaking out to parties to drink and so much lying going on. it was really tough. he wouldnt handle me crying all the time because of the pregnancy symptoms, mood swings and being emotional...

we've recently gotten soo much better i love the fact that he decided to still stick around after so many sticky situations, weve worked things out and now we talk things out,hes understandable but i think he still needs alittle bit more time to break into his daddy hood. if only he truely realized how hard it is to be a teenage girl pregnant..its really hard and i would consider girls to wait until their older..this is something that is more better at happening when your ready for it,with a house, job, good realtionship where you both plan the pregnancy.
my bf doesnt have a job yet but is out looking for one at these moments,we have 2 other friends who are so close to us and are teens as well and were trying to all pitch in to rent a house thats near my bf's house, and its really great because were all responsible teenagers who have everything planned out.

  • Well I guess you could say I am/was a teen. I was 18 years old. But I have been with the guy for 3 years and we have our own house and everything. Were getting married soon. Well anyways my SO told me that I was pregnant. In the back of my mind I knew it too. But I didnt think I could get pregnant so I ignored my intuition and ignored my SO. I took tests and there was very faint lines. Didnt know if they were positive or not. So we had this huge get together at my g-mas house and I didnt have any money for another test so I asked my dad. I told him that I thought I was pregnant and I needed 10 dollars for a digital test. He gave it to me. My cousin and I came back and took the test fully expecting it to say "not pregnant" Well it popped up "Pregnant". I was happy.

  • cont. But when I told my mom she was furious. My dad already figured it. She then got use to the idea and told everyone at her work that she was gonna be a grandma. So did my dad. But unfortunately I miscarried and that was the worst thing possible that could have happened to me!
