Well, my story begins a week before the Hurricane hit. We had just bought our home in Slidell, La. the Friday prior to the Hurricane. We were still in the process of moving all of our belongings into the house, when we evacuated. We only went to the other side of town to the apartment of a friend, thinking that we would be back in a day or two. Well, that day or two turned into two weeks. Two weeks with no electricity and no running water. FEMA didn't show up for about a week, the only food we had, came from the others in the apartment complex who were trying to get rid of the food in their freezers before it went bad...When we were finally allowed to go home, there was nothing to go home to. We lost everything. We spent the next 6 mos. living at the apt's. And the next 6 mos. in a FEMA trailer. We are still waiting on the ROAD HOME program, and we are still fighting with our insurance company who refuses to pay for most of the cost of rebuilding. We have been to mediation, but were unable to collect. Now, we have to go to court. I'm just wondering when will it all be over.
