Hello! My name is Donna, and I live in Long Beach, MS. I was 8 months pregnant when Katrina made her visit, and we evacuated to Auburn, AL to my daughter's house. We (my hubby and stepson) each took 2 changes of clothing, because we figured we'd be home in a couple of days, and that's it. Well, our house was demolished. We were left with an 8' high pile of our southernmost neighbor's house debris, and when all was said and done, we were left with a really nice slab. That's it. Nothing was salvageable. Two weeks after the storm, my hubby and son in law made the ardurous trek to the coast, and hubby called me and said, "hon I have good news and bad news. The bad news is, we have no house. The good news is, we now have waterfront property"...LOL What a nightmare this has been. In our case, insurance didn't pay because they said it was ALL flood. I told them NO, it was all those other houses crashing into ours! Didn't work. We have since rebuilt, and things are getting back to normal. FEMA was NOT helpful, but we made it anyway.
