Greetings fellow moms of teens!

When is the right time to start looking into college scholarships? My daughter already has a $2,000 scholarship from City science fair, but I know that we will need to hunt for many more.

Thank you for your wisdom!!

They need to start (at the latest) their Junior year.  Most of the scholarships are going to have around a May or June deadline, some as early as March.  So, be very aware of deadlines so that she can apply to as many as possible.

When she is in 11th grade.

My son is a junior in college and we missed so many scholarships because I started looking when he was a senior.  Make sure to check all the deadline because each one is different.  BTW, my son is on a gree ride at Florida State because I continue to look for scholarship and because he gets good grades.  This year he got a Science grant and a Math grant.  I love FREE money.

I started looking last year when my son was sophmore, but for most you have to be a junior in high school or better

After trolling the web on this question, it does seem that the most important factor is meeting the various scholarship submission deadlines. Here's a fantastic article on finding scholarships.

From what I understand about scholarships is this. If your child gets all A's and B's? They will scholar. Ours can get a scholarship for being a DAR, having two Korean War vets in the family and straight A student. Plus if they go to school in the same state? Another kudo. Look at your family history. Is there is scholarships to be had? I know we can boon several here. Ours is in 7th grade and I am always looking. Good luck.
