My son turned 19 last Monday.  He was really feeling his oats the weekend before and I was ready to pull my hair out!  Then on Tuesday he and 4 of his friends were in my kitchen when I got home from work, which isn't unusual...but their conversation surprised me.  Seems 3 of them had gotten their tongues pierced!!  My son was not one of them.  As the kids were talking about taking care of these piercings my son commented that he wasn't a piercing kind of guy.  He looked at me and said that he really wants a tattoo tho and that they had tried to talk him into getting a tattoo on the spur of the moment.  He didn't do it because he wanted to think about what he wanted and where to put it because he doesn't want it to cause problems at a job interview and things like that.   I was blown  away at the maturity I felt that showed!  Wow!  I just wanted to share this cuz there is hope!!  Lol  I'm so proud of him!!!

You have every right to be proud of your son ... he showed a LOT of maturity and has obviously been raised to think things through logically. Good job, mama!!

That is great!  You SHOULD be proud!  Sounds like you've done a very good job at raising him and installing some good morals!  Hope my two teen boys will live that long!

That is great!Good for your son (and you).

I always tell my sons that it takes a real man to stand up for his beliefs and think for himself rather that just do what his friends are doing.

I'm proud of him too!  It took guts for him to be his own man and not follow what everybody else was doing.

When my then 16 yr old wanted a tattoo we made him wait. We also made an appointment with our Pastor to discuss it with him as well. He did eventually get a tattoo (when he turned 17) but I was proud of him too for waiting and going through the steps to make sure it was the right thing for him. Good job!
