Kids homework

Doea anyone else have a hard time getting homework for your kids teacher when they are absent? DD is out alot due to illness and she got sick at school yesterday again so I went and got her. I requested ANY and ALL homework and or missing work. I knew she would not go to school today because she was still sick. I called the school after my other DD got home (she was to pick it up in the office) and they said not one teacher brought a thing down so we have all weekend to get her work done and nothing to do. I have had this problem all year long and she has missed way tomuch school to not have work. If your child is gone how hard is it for you to get their work?

Yikes, that's not good at all.  Do you have access to the assignments online?  We have a site called "Teacher Ease", that shows us everything.

My dd is rarely sick but never any issues. She hasn't missed this year or any last year.

She had swine flu and a stomach bug 2 years ago and missed 3 days one week then back for 2 days, then missed  3 days the next week, yep, back to back illnesses.  Bad 2 weeks there.  She had no issues with teacher emailing me homework or picking up what she needed.  They were nice and gave her plenty of time to complete it all since she missed so much in a 2 week span.  After that dd never wanted to miss a day again and hasn't, I don't think.  My dd was so swamped.  She felt so very overwhelmed.  I can't imagine being like your dd and missing a lot.  It must be so hard on her.

We have a place where most teacher put their assignments on also so you don't have to call even.  Some do not put things on there though.

We have been lucky that DD has not been out sick much, however she does have online access to most of her assignments.

DD is a type 1 Diabetic and this year has been horrible.  She is hospitalised atleast once a year for no less then a week. This year she has been twice. When she hit 13 I swear her Diabeties went  nutz lol. This week she was able to go to school for a day and 1/2. So you can imagine how much she missed. I can get her assignments on line sometimes. One of her teachers wont even put them up at all. I just got of the phone with the asst Principal and she is going to ask the teachers why it is so hard for me to get the work and if there is an easier way for them to send it to me. DD is very overwhelmed this year.

I think if the absence is due to a chronic med prob like diabetes there is some sort of law that the school has to accomodate her? Hugs and best wishes to both of you!

Oh momma how frustrating for you.  Hugs and good luck.  Please let us know how things work out and how your DD is doing.

Yes, here almost everything is online.  When my daughter was out for swine flu a couple years ago - then complicated by brochitis, we got everything online.
