I was running a scan on my computer and went to get a drink came back and my computer was off. I went to turn it on and it wouldn't come on.
I call HP since it is under warranty they told me what to do to get it to come on. Then he takes over my computer and tells me he is going to run a scan and then proceeds to tell me he needs my credit card #. I said for what it is under warranty as I told you to start with. He said yes but if we fix it over the phone instead of you sending it in we charge $199.99 to fix it FREE for a year from the date of purchase. I started laughing and said I don't think so.
My computer is working fine now so I will be getting the extended warranty but if it quits I will be sending it in.
I don't blame you for not giving him your credit card number, that's insane!
I'm an IT and computer expert so if you have any other problems get on another computer and message me and I'll see if I can't walk you through it.
I know and I have used HP since I got my 1st computer and never had a problem before

Wtheck??? Glad you didn't give him your credit card! Almost sounds like a scam?
I know they said it was a new policy if they fix it over the phone even with a valid warranty they charge you but if you mail it in no charge

I wouldn't have given it to him, either. Sounds Fishy.
THANK YOU
The funny part is after I wouldn't give him my credit card he shut my computer down and then said bye have a great day. I turned it back on and he had left 3 new programs on my computer which when I did a scan one of them showed up as having a trojan and I was able to remove it then I removed all 3 programs he added and rebooted my computer just in case. So far no more problems.
