Well, ladies. My 14 (almost 15) yo son had his first JROTC Drill Team competition this past weekend and I must say he did beautifully. They didnt win but did well considering they only had three practices prior to this first event. My son was so excited and he just loves his JROTC unit. We filmed it and I have posted the video. I just wanted to share my proud momma moment with you ladies. Although my son has never been in any kind of trouble, he hasnt always looked at school as a highlight of his day. He is so smart but his grades never reflected it because he didnt really seem to feel it was anything worthy of acheivement. The JROTC changed it all for him. He went from barely getting out of 8th grade to an A average student in 9th grade. His involvement with the JROTC has made all the difference. The soldiers in charge of the program have really been such a wonderful source of motivation and my son is getting it done! Im so proud. He has another competition this weekend.

That's awesome, esp since it helped him regain an interest in his education. Wish they had this program in my kids school!

I know where you are coming from it was the same for my oldest she hated school in the eighth I made her take ROTC in the 9th she didn't want to but she loved it and took it the next 2 years.  Her grades really improved it was a big turning point.

Flashback all you like! I love the program and I have seen what it does for the kids involved. The guys in charge care about the kids and push them to be better. Every school should have this program.  Im glad it brought back some fond memories for you!

That is awesome!  Great video.  My daughte is in a similar program, but for the Navy (Sea Cadets) and I think the program has done so much for her self esteem.
