We give the kids theirs after school. Dh and I do cards after dinner. We sometimes do gifts but not usually.
I have PMS and a GPS
Im a bitch that can find you
I have two that have moved out and one at home. I gave them their gifts this past weekend. The boys each got a dress shirt in nuetrals and a red t-shirt. My daughter got a cream top with a scarf I made to match and a washed red sweater.
I made myself a cactus bouquet. A single girl deserves flowers too. I'm not big on the traditional over done gifts. These also make me laugh. kind of traditional with a twist.
My mother used to have something special waiting for when we got home.
I get them something small like dollar items or something. They usually get them after school.
DH and I don't get each other gifts, we have a date night instead because spending that time together is more important to us than gifts. He does get the kids and I each something small, usually candy.
I usually give my sons candy....after school. Dh and I will exchange cards, maybe some candy....but we don't go all out because our Anniversary is in January, so we do the romantic weekend then.
I haven't gotten any of them anything, yet! I guess I will be shopping tomorrow!
I love Valentine's Day! My 2 SDs each get a single pink rose, a Valentine's Day balloon, a card, a box of chocolates, and a lotion/body spray set. They will get these after dinner. My DH is getting a box of chocolates and card from his girls and I am getting him an electric blanket (doesn't sound romantic, but DH is cold natured and I work nights and it's to "keep him warm when I'm not there to" kind of gift) and a card and love letter I wrote him telling him how much I appreciate him. He will get these after dinner. After I pick the kids up after school, we will deliver valentine's chocolates and cards to both their grandma's and also to their mother's house. Then when I come to work, I have valentine's chocolates for all my girlfriends I work with! I love Valentine's Day!!!
This, I've discovered, is a touchy subject. Some people get all warm and squirmy about V-day. I don't see it as anything but another smarmy Hallmark holiday, designed to let guilt extract money from you for pointless junk, roses, and candy.
That said, if honey and honey bunch want to get all worked up about it and buy matching pink underwear with hearts on it, it's really not my business.
My DH is a hopless romantic so yes we do give gifts. After work with Dinner. Kids get stuff too.. but not big things. All got small boxes of candy .. son got a video game, daughter got shoes and parfume. The older ones get cards with 10 bucks and a small box of candy too.
