Trip to Europe (UPDATE)

My friend asked me last year if I wanted to go on a European trip with her for her 50th Bday.  Her dh didn't want to go with her.  I am the only friend she has that can afford to go. Well, it would be spring/fall 2013.  SO, her sister died suddenly a month ago and I think she is all weird over. it.  (can't blame her).  So she asked me if I would be willing to go in September with her.  OF course, I said yes.  So we are looking at either Paris, Paris/Switzerland (I have been but but it was 20+ years) or Barcelona (I haven't been there but my dh has).

How exciting for you. I love the idea of Paris/Switzerland or Barcelona. Switzerland is one of my favorite places. You will have to keep us up to date on what you all decide.

I love Paris (it's been a long time for me too)!  I've never been to Barcelona, but I'm sure it's beautiful.  You're so lucky to have a friend to go with, mine wouldn't go to Europe, only to Cancun, and since I didn't want to go to Cancun I spent my 40th at home.

Last year I spent a week in Vegas for my 50th, with a different friend (we have been friends since we were 13).  I think that is when my other friend started thinking about her 50th and what she wanted to do.  She will be 49 1/2 when we go, lol.

Oh how fun! I think I would like to go to Paris or Barcelona. Thats a tough choice.

Weather in late Sept. will be much nicer in Barcelona than in Paris and Switzerland.  Paris will probably be around 60 and 55-60 in Switzerland and Barcelona would be around mid or high 70's.  Its really my friends choice.  I am along for the ride and it is her trip, LOL.

Personally I love Germany.  It is a beautiful country and the fact that almost every German knows english makes it a lot easier to get around.  If you visit Germany you definitely need to go the the Zugspitze and the Neuschwantein Castle.  Pari is a beautiful city but there is just something about visting castles that appeals to me.

Germany is the only place my friend has been in Europe already.  I did visit the castle area in France when dh and I went there.  It is a neat area.

I recommend Germany! I live in Bamberg and it is beautiful and clean. Paris is also beautiful, but it's overpriced and a very dirty city. If you want to go to France I recommend Toulouse. :) My husband lived there for a year and the pictures are incredible. Plus it's a lot less tourist-y. Enjoy your trip! Europe is incredible!

Haven't been to Paris, but have been to Barcelona.  We were only there for a day but I loved it.  The arcitecture was awesome.  Whereever you decide to go I'm sure you will have a great time.
