Today is the last day of the school year in my district.
What are your teens reading? Do they have a required reading list for the next school year? My daughter is required to read: The Hours, Einstien's Dreams, and The Lake In the Woods. Also, everyone in the school is required to read The Book Theif. suggested reading includes: Elements of Style, How to Read Literature like a Professor, and selected passages from the King James bible.
My son is only required to read on book from a list of six, but I will have him read at least two.

Quoting Carmel63:Quoting fantasticfour:I hate summer reading lists. I learned from before that the advanced courses require you to read this boring book in the summer (which you have to buy because all the libraries will have them checked out) and do a book report on it. Why not let them read what they want?
I think most districts in Massachusetts have required reading at all levels, but more required reading in the advanced classes.
I know it is required but I still don't like it. They never pick a book my kids get interested in and trust me my kids are readers! I'm forever asked, can we go to books a million, can I look at amazon?
