Am I being an overbearing parent?

Is it ok to go with your child to meet with the advisor at his college to discuss what program would be best for them and what courses they should take.  My son wants to transfer to another college in December, so I just want to make sure that he's in the right program.  I know advisors have to meet with many studens, so they kind of just hurry them along.

He sounds like he's a smart kid who knows what he wants and if he hasn't asked you to come then it's time to consider that you are teaching a very important lesson about independence.  Discuss his questions and your questions before he goes and then trust him.  Then discuss it afterward.  If he forgets something important, he can call, email, go back.

My mother taught me this and also take a notebook to write notes when meeting with the counselor.

I bet you're proud of him!

You should go because they don't understand what is being said and they don't like to ask questios.
