My ds got in to some trouble back in February and was expelled from school and is facing misdemeanor charges. We go to court on Friday (the 13th). His lawyer has assured us that no matter the outcome he will not be taken into custody at that point, but I an still very nervous/scared. She is hoping for a good deal from the prosocution so we won't have to go to trial. I am not excusing ANYTHING that my son (and friends) did, but I don't think that the system needs to go overboard with this. I have heard that the court system in this town is very harsh. He is working very hard to catch up on the school he missed by doing summer school classes and will hopefully graduate on time. He has been very good around the house as well (although my husband would definitely disagree).
He's a good kid - wish us luck!
First - thanks for all the good luck thoughts!
Court this morning went very smooth and he got a decent deal from the prosecutors. He has definitely learned his lesson and he will NOT be a repeat offender. We got to see a few proceedings before him that were about probation violations and such and so he knows what can happen if he screws up again!
One more court date at the end of August and then I think we're done! Whew!
