Also, the insurance pulled through. The guy (truck driver) is being charged with seven deaths and the bills from the injured ten people. He's also getting charged for DUI and for vehicle theft. I'm just glad my family is still intact (not dead). The school is being stupid and telling me that if DS doesnt come to school that I'll be fined.
Sure, my son who was unconscious for three days and who lost his memory is perfectly fit for school.
Sigh, I have a lot to deal with.
Yeah well don't worry about the school. The doctors will vouch for you on the reason he's not there. As far as the driver paying the medical bills, he should pay that AND pain and suffering for your son, your husband, and the rest of the family who are suffering due to stress, emotional distress, and because mom and dad are needed at the hospital and not so much with them.
the school can go jump off a bridge!
As for your son, any improvement is a good thing. Hope it continues that way for him!
So glad he's improving!
As for school, I'd start w/ the principal and explain the situation. If you get nowhere w/ him/her, go higher up to the school board. Being seriously injured in a car accident is a legitimate reason to be absent for several days/weeks.

I work for an elementary school, and if a parent called us and told us that their child was in an accident, any absences from that would automatically be excused.
Have you called the school and let them know? How about having the hospital fax an "excuse" note to the school that he is an inpatient and they are not sure when he will be released. If that doesn't work, then I would go to the school board and raise a stink.
Good luck, and I hope your son is better soon!
Quoting Ashbeth1978:
I'm glad he's improving. I just joined the group so not sure what happened but judging from this he was in a bad wreck hit by a drunk driver I'm guessing. I'm sorry for that & you & your family will be in my prayers.
