Tow of mine have apples and one has a HP. It all depends on the major . DD and Ds number 4 have apples as one is taking broadcasting the other video game design. Number one has a HP as he is an anthropology major

See what the school recommends and then ask the student. My DS should have had a Mac according to his major and the school but he refused stating they are overpriced and he didn't feel a need for it. As the years go on he may change his mind.

I can't stand macs but they do have a place in some majors.  If they are going into the arts, mac is probably the best bet, anything else should be windows based.

Most college programs are Windows based, and will run better on a non-Apple product.  And my older dd is an artist, and a HS art teacher, and she HATES Apple products.

Ask the college what they recommend for such things. Dd got a HP laptop but an I pad to take to classes.  The smart boards download to the I Pad, but the laptop has more graphics and memory that she needed too.

yup , mine didn't pick an apple but niece did.Different school and majors.

I don't understand why a school would have a inpack on this, the apple does a whole lot more then what my computer does.
