January 30th: National Croissant Day

A Croissant is a crescent shaped bread that can be eaten on its own, topped with chocolate and fruit or as a sandwich with fillings. Some food historians believe that croissants were created by people of the middle ages to worship the moon. While other historians say that croissants were developed in Budapest during the late 1600’s when Turkey invaded them. The shape of the bread was meant to mock the Turkish flag.

A croissant is not the healthiest bread choice as one croissant often has over 300 calories. However to many people the unhealthiness of a croissant is small sacrifice to make for its delicious taste.

How often do you serve bread, rolls, croissants, etc with dinner?

I love croissants but don't eat them very often.

I serve bread or rolls only a couple times a month.

Mostly only when my aunt and uncle visit for Thanksgiving and they fix them. If I fix the Pillsbury crescent rolls at any other time, it's to have them as a snack.

I serve bread almost every meal.  I bake it fresh so I need to use it!

Only when we're having a big get together with guests.

Croissants for dinner is just wrong! It's like serving a jelly donut next to your healthy protein and veggie.

I love croissants, but we rarely eat them.

Once in a while we serve bread with dinner. It goes well with things like soup or garlic bread with spaghetti, or sometimes we'll have sandwiches for dinner.

We dont eat croissants as dinner. Its usually as breakfast or with tea in the afternoon or as after school snack for kids.

I love croissants but rarely have them. We have bread, biscuits or rolls on occasion with dinner.
