Is 13, almost 14, too young to expect to remember to practice an instrument every day without a constant daily reminder? Getting tired of daily reminders, especially when she has contests and concerts coming up!! Grrrrr!

I admit it, I am guilty of always reminding my daughter of things.  That is my fault and I take responsibilty for that.  She does a great job on her own though.  I just have to tell myself it is okay.  I have never been one to watch her fall or fail.  Now when she forgets I will look at her and make her think about it.  Sometimes she gets so caught up in the moment.  I never had to tell her to practice until she got tired of the class and the teacher and what was going on.  Give her a journal or calendar in which she can look at every day.

This is what we did when my son played an instrument last year.

Quoting Jers.:

We treated it as homework so, when he was doing his writing and reading homework for the day, this was also part of it.  Maybe she doesn't want to play anymore?  Maybe she wants a different instrument?

I would take this as a sign it's time to give up the instrument, sounds like the interest is no longer there
