Guess that would depend on where I am going.  If I am visiting my parents, sometimes that is months in advance (though we always know that we will be there for Christmas, so sometimes I am always planning).  Day trips, well that could be I wake up and say," come on girls we're going out" and off we go.

same here . we had a big family cruise planned for a year because everyone had to get time off and we wanted to make sure we could all be together .. but if it is a trip where we are driving usually a month or two in advance

Most of them are spur of the moment.

Just depends on what the vacation is and how much planning it takes.

Most big trips 6 to 9 months in advance like Hawaii, Europe, or the Caribbean.

It depends, alot of time I don't like to plan at all.  WIth a cruise or something, you have to plan.

It varies. Day trips are spur-of-the-moment. Short weekend camping trips are planned about a week in advance. Long weekend camping trip are about 3 wks ahead. Trips like our last 2 really big camping trips (1 was 2 wks long and the other a month long) were planned several months in advance. Even weekend trips when we stay at a hotel aren't planned very far in advance.

Yeah, we're the type of family that likes to wing it : )

Big vacations up to a year.. the rest are spur of the moment and I'm good with that.
