My 16 year old is a very smart young man, but he does the bare minimum in school. He could have A's easily with a little effort. He could get a scholarship, get into a good college, but he just wants to settle. Do enough to graduate and that is it. He just wants to have a good time. We set standards for him and he will settle for less then what he could have. I just don't get it and really don't know how to change it.
He plans to graduate, maybe join the military and then go to community college. Which is fine, but I feel like he is selling himself short. It is frustrating to see his talents and abilities wasted.
