My dd's friend's birthday is this thrusday.  HIs parents are taking him out to eat and they invited my daughter to go along.  I've never seen her so nervous.  She has no idea what to order.  she's afraid if she gets a salad the'll think badly of her. or if she gets something bigger the'll think badly of her. She's not sure how fancy the restaurnt will be.  She's not sure if she'll even know be able to read the menut it will most  probably be a spanish restaurant.  Oh and his parents don't speak English and her spanish is only perfect in spanish class lol.    i was going to ask her last night what she plans on wearing but didnt want a to stress her any worse lol

Get something medium priced. Tell her to ask him what to wear.

Have her ask him what she should wear and to order for her that should ease her mind and I am sure he will translate for her if he needs to so tell her to relax.

Yup I have taught mine when a guest to ask the hosts ...parents ...for a suggestion and order in that price range or less or order from the middle.LOL I can tell sometimes other parents teach the same when new friend will go out with us .Same question asked to me or my husband first off.
