Neighbor kid will be a college senior and is willing to tutor my dd in Calculus this summer. He lives on our street. Did not talk money yet. Dh mentioned to me $20 an hour. I was thinking more $25. Dh got $8 an hour to tutor when he was in college 29 years ago. He is gonna tutor once a week and give her some homework. They are using dd's book. She dropped Calc this semester with an F after 6 weeks.

I think $20-$25 is fair. Some of our district teachers do summer tutoring most charge between $15-25 per hour.

DD's semi private ACT tutoring with an adult was $45 an hour.

1 mom liked this

I live in a high cost area, but I would expect to pay a minimum of $50.00 per hour.  My neighbor charges $85.00 per hour and she was booked solid.

Holy crap, I guess so. Actually dd told me her ACT prep was 1 1/2 hours not an hour.

I'd offer twenty and go from there. He can always make a counter offer :)

In my area the starting price is $60/hr.  $25 is a bargain!!!

ACT/SAT is much more and there is a min. number of sessions if you go with a company.

yup a math tutor used around here often charges 85 and is booked school year and summer.

He is serious eye candy also ...LOL...my neighbor said it took effort not to stay in the room with him and her son

25 seems the right price for a college student.

The teachers here charge at least $40 an hour for tutoring. $20 would be a bargain.

I paid $30/hr, student teacher, 16 years ago!!  You should pay AT LEAST $30, to a college senior, if he is in a math field.
