So here I am...

I guess I've been hiding in the pre-school and baby groups for a while. (I have 4 yr and 19 mos old girls) But I do have a teen son who will be going to 8th grade next month.

I'm sorta in a delayed-acceptance of his growing up; letting the girls distract me.  But I figured I better join a group to help me vent/ question his rude, crude, additude.

So, here I am. Do any of you let younger children distract you from the bad-teen-days?

I admit I spend more time in the Elementary School Kids group : )

I have a 14 y/o, a 9 y/o, and a 7 y/o.

My kids are 7 years apart. My daughter just turned 18 and my son will be 11. Preschool and elementary age children are more enjoyable because they tend to be less argumentative. Teens seem to exhibit less than desirable behavior at times in order to gain autonomy. It's natural to focus on the younger kids because their immediate needs are greater.

My kids are only 27 months apart so they were pretty much teens at the same time.

Hello, and welcome to the group!

I have a son that is about the same age as your son. He's going into 8th grade too.

He's an only child, so I don't have any other kids to distract me. :-)

I've been all across the board with ages.

Mine are 28...son ,22...daughter ,16....son and 15 ...son.I had infertility .

There were days I enjoyed my teens and there were days my younger ones saved the day and  sometimes it was all good !!!

Us too. (Infertility) I try to think of it as a blessing and a grounding experience for my oldest... the younger kids help us all to get along and have more excuses for family time. But it also holds him back from being his age which can cause stress and sometimes pushes him away.
