What is the worst thing your parents ever made you eat when you were a child?
I have to say I think it was her meatloaf. I like meatloaf but she always adds stewed tomatoes to it.
My mom didn't believe in making us eat anything we didn't like.
She was made to by a mean, old lunch lady when she was little and she was traumatized by it.
My dad tricked me into eating venison but I liked it.
She never made me eat anything terrible. There are only one or two foods I do not like so it was never an issue.
We weren't made to eat things, encouraged yes but not made. The worst thing I remember trying as a child was jello with shredded carrots that was decorated with dollops of mayonaise/miracle whip. The mayonaise looked a lot like whipped cream so it was a real surprise when I tasted it.
There are two things I despise, honey and liver. My mom was very resepctful of my honey aversion, liver on the other hand she felt the need to push on me. I could sit at the table for hours and wouldn't touch it, it was gross, but her and my sister loved it...yuck!
One day we were talking and she admitted that she knew I didn't like it, that the first time she had ever given it to me (as a baby) I gagged, and threw up. She felt I would grow to like it. It wasn't until my early teen years that she realized I probably never would.
Nothing. I never got made to try or eat anything I didn't want to. I was a very sick child and my parents were glad I ate.
That being said, I was a balanced eater especially compared to some kids today. I ate just about all fruits. I ate peas, green beans, salad etc.
Dh was made to try things and eat things he hated.
Lima beans, w/ peas a close 2nd.
