I was talking to some of my youth kids this week and they told me that they had a "code red" (shooter in the school) drill so they had to hide get away from windows and doors and such. Well certain teachers came around and if they could see them they pointed and said "You're dead"

How would you react?

Even just as a leader I was shocked and livid. How would you react? Do your kids schools have these drills? How are they exucated?

Sad they have to have those drills. It is just that, a drill. No biggie.
They have a disaster drill here. They put kids in body bags and flight for life is there. It is life like and very real.

Shocked and livid?  That just seems a little over-sensitive and pious, to be honest.  This issue is very serious, I would not want anything sugar coated for my teenager- especially when it literally means life or death!

I would probably prefer the term 'victim' used. Later, they could discuss the ramifications of that.

I completely agree with it. We have teachers in our schools in Aus, that walk around to every door and every window in the entire school and make sure they are all locked and silent in the rooms. Any classroom that seems to have noisy students/seen students get a dention and they have to practice it all at lunch.
